The game's interesting and definitely has potential, but I'm sorry to say that combat, as it is currently, is... annoying, to put it mildly:

1. Lack of Information: What do the actions do? My first guess would be Fire Attack, Ice Attack, Lightning Attack, Acid attack, 4 slots to be filled later, Party?, Stealth??, Items, Run away. This needs tooltips, preferably with information about how much damage it would do etc so that the player can make informed decisions and doesn't have to rely on trial and error.
2. Pacing: This is in my opinion the much bigger issue, and why I couldn't finish this version - turns take WAY too long. When sitting around a table with friends, rolling dice feels good because of the social aspect and the tension. Animated dice in a video game for really important skill checks can be ok. Watching the dice very slowly tumble over the screen to see whether the pirate hits you... well, for the first roll it was amusing. By the third roll it was just frustrating, and by the fifth I was actively looking for a surrender button - I'm slightly exaggerating, but it seriously is fun-draining.

Please consider adding an option to skip the diceroll (whether as a menu option or just a click to skip to the result).

Thank you for the feedback Xarza. I'll add these recommendation to the backlog. A lot of the information is available with the talents, but it would not go amiss for me to add them as tooltips as well.

Good to hear :)

I took a look at the talent tree, and I think I found a bug: The tooltips for the left tree (Evocation) display normally, but the ones for the right one (Necromancy) are half inside the window and half outside, and scrollbars appear. It's possible to scroll the window to see them, but if the mouse cursor moves from the talent icon the bars disappear and the window snaps back to the left - so to read the tooltips you have to scroll the window to the right with  keyboard input while moving the mouse slowly to the left. Maybe relatedly, the trees also look misaligned to the text - I've attached a screenshot:

This is at fullscreen, 1080p, font size 16.

I feared that might happen with smaller screens. I'll need to relook at how I implemented the tooltip. Thanks for the screenshot.

Glad to help.

BTW, sorry if my initial post came across as... a bit too hostile, let's put it that way. I did enjoy the game (finally finished it, alt-tabbing after every command in battle), but that kind of slowdown really does annoy me, and I'm kinda prone to snarky stuff XD.

I seriously do think the game is good, but that the slowness of rolling is a significant annoyance (probably not to everyone, but to me and I'm reasonably sure quite a few others). I'm here for the writing, the erotic scenes, the combat, not twiddling my thumbs while waiting for the results of an RNG :)

(Edit: And while this does kinda sound like reemphasizing  the bad points, What I do want to highlight is rather the good points: The combat detracts of all the great stuff :) And I'm kinda bad at expressing that)

Don't worry, I'm not prone to taking things personal. I doubt I'll be able to completely remove the dice rolls (by way of an option) without a significant rework of that module, but I can likely truly speed that up via toggle. I'll experiment with it and see if I can implement something by release 0.9.

MGTOW, mind toning down the all caps? More chances we'll hear what you have to say that way.

On my end I plan on including more black characters (and not in stereotypical roles). I had already planned for quite a few, on top of the ship captain and the power Mage Miranda. In the first game I made sure do the same thing, putting them in important rich roles, despite having issues with the AI I was working with at the time (changed to permit more options for me on Ascension II).

I know this isn't the all or nothing you were looking for. Thing is I'm building this primarily for myself, for fun as a hobby. I'm not making any money out of this despite investing a lot of time in. Most creators here are doing the same.

If you do want to see more black people represented in games, you should try building it. There are bunch of people here who'll be willing to give you some time and guide you on that journey, because ultimately we all benefit from different perspectives and backgrounds in game creators. It creates more interesting games for all of us to play.
